Cryopen
The Cryopen is a medical device used in cryotherapy, which is a technique that involves the use of extreme cold to treat various skin conditions. Cryopen is designed to deliver controlled and precise freezing to targeted areas of the skin. Here are some common uses and functions of Cryopen:
- Wart and Skin Lesion Removal: Cryopen is often used for the removal of benign skin lesions, such as warts, skin tags, and moles. The extremely cold temperature destroys the cells of the lesion, causing them to peel off or be naturally eliminated by the body.
- Verruca Treatment: Verruca’s, which are warts on the soles of the feet, can be treated using Cryopen. The freezing process helps eliminate the verruca by causing damage to the affected tissue.
- Actinic Keratosis Treatment: Actinic keratosis is a precancerous skin condition caused by sun damage. Cryotherapy can be used to freeze and remove these abnormal skin cells.
- Sunspot and Age Spot Removal: Cryopen may be used to treat sunspots (also known as solar lentigines) and age spots by freezing the pigmented cells, causing them to slough off.
- Skin Tag Removal: Skin tags, small benign growths that often occur in areas where the skin rubs against itself, can be effectively removed with Cryopen.
- Papilloma and Seborrheic Keratosis: Cryopen can be used to treat papillomas (benign tumours of the skin) and seborrheic keratosis (non-cancerous skin growths) by freezing and removing the affected tissue.
The Cryopen is a handheld device that delivers liquid nitrogen to the targeted area. Liquid nitrogen is extremely cold, and when applied to the skin, it freezes the water within the cells, leading to cell destruction. The dead or damaged cells are then naturally shed as the skin heals.
